The BD FACSAriaIII Flow Cytometer and Cell Sorter is capable of sorting 4 populations simultaneously . The instrument has a digital platform flow cytometer with integrated software (FACSDiVa version 8.0). Furthermore, it has three lasers:

488nm “Blue” laser detects 5 parameters as well as FSC and SSC.

633nm “Red” laser detects 2 parameters.

405nm “Violet” laser detects 2 parameters.
At 70 psi and 90 kHz with an average threshold rate of 10,000 events per second, a four-way sort achieved a purity of >99% and a yield >80% of expected yield.
